Effect of Pre-gamma Irradiation on Cr-39*
The effect of pre-gamma irradiation on track density, bulk etch rate and light absorbance in CR-39 was investigated. CR-39 detectors were irradiated with gamma doses over a range of 0 to 280 kGy (0 to 28 Mrad). The detectors were overlaid with 0.77 mm of polyethylene and exposed to a known fluence of 252Cf spontaneous fission neutrons. All detectors were then etched in 6.25N sodium hydroxide so...
متن کاملEffects of UVC irradiation on alpha-particle track parameters in CR-39
The effects of UVC exposure on the track etch rate Vt and the detector sensitivity V of CR-39 SSNTDs were investigated through the diameters and depths of alpha-particle tracks. Both the bulk etch rate Vb and Vt increased but V decreased. The track diameters and depths were used to derive a V function for CR-39 detectors with and without UV irradiation. © 2008 Elsevier Ltd. متن کاملStudy of Neutron Induced Modification on Optical Band Gap of CR-39 Polymeric Detector
Neutronirradiation effects on optical absorption of solid-state nuclear track detector, CR-39 was studied for the various fluences ranging from 2.38x106 to 2.7x108 n/cm by ultraviolet-visible (UVVis) spectroscopy. The optical absorption spectra in the wavelength range of 200-700nm were recorded for the pristine and the neutron irradiated samples in the above fluence range. The UV-visible spectr...
متن کاملExperimental and Monte Carlo studies on the response of CR-39 detectors to Am-Be neutron spectrum
Background: The Poly-Allyl Diglycol Carbonate (PADC) detector is of particular interest for development of a fast neutron dosimeter. Fast neutrons interact with the constituents of the CR-39 detector and produce H, C and O recoils, as well as (n, α) reaction. These neutron- induced charged particles contribute towards the response of CR-39 detectors. Material and Methods: Electrochemical...
متن کاملInfluence of neutron irradiation on high temperature superconducting coated conductors
High temperature superconductors (HTS) might be applied for the magnets in a next step fusion device. The magnets could operate in the temperature range of liquid nitrogen or slightly below. Apart from the special requirements on the mechanical properties, the conductors will be exposed to radiation. We examine the influence of neutron irradiation on coated conductors. These conductors were irr...
